About us

The Asciak Tennis Academy is an established, proud collective team of tennis professionals who are passionate in the development and nourishing of young talent . We cater for all types of levels providing each individual with the requisite tools and guidance to succeed and propel one’s career to the highest level. This in addition to the high end facilities at the Marsa Sports Club here on the beautiful island of Malta .

  • Career Highlights / Competitive Record

    National: Malta’s Champion for 13 years.

    International: Represented Malta in 40 Davis Cup ties, winning 37 matches and losing 33.
    Represented Malta in Junior Wimbledon at the age of 17.

    Played team tennis in Germany for Tennis Club Hof for 12 years, winning 88 singles matches out of 96.

    Gold medal winner in the Small States of Europe 1993 in Malta in the doubles event.
    Won 1 silver medal in Luxembourg and 2 bronze medals in Liechtenstein and San Marino respectively.

  • Coaching/Sports Related Qualifications and Experience:

    Coaching: Been very active as a coach for the last 37 years and has gained immense experience.
    Produced most of Malta’s top players. He also coached his son Matthew who also works at the academy to number 800 on the ATP Ranking list.

    At the present moment he is a full time coach with Alina Shcherbinina, who at 13 years of age is already one of the best players in Europe in the Under 14 category. Gordon has level 2 of the ITF Coaching Education.

    Played Junior Wimbledon U18 in 1979, 1980 and 1981.
    Received the Merit of Gieh Ir-Republikka in 1993.

    Has been coaching with the Gordon Asciak Tennis academy for the past 8 years, coaching children and adults of all ages and level.

    Coached promising junior players as well as club players at the Bath Lawn Tennis Club during the year of 2015 in Bath, England.

    Sports related: B.Psy (Hons) in Psychology (Uni of Malta) and Msc. in Health Psychology (Uni of Bath).
